“the bird a nest, the spider a web, (wo)man friendship” William Blake

Tis so for girls too. There might not be a more cheesy metaphor for friendship than a bouquet of flowers…individual friendships add to the fragrance and overall appearance of that bouquet. We gain different things from different people in our lives, just as we mean different things to different people.

Hannah 12, Madelyn 10, and Rachel 7, invested a good chunk of a weekend with their friend, Faye. Each of them, though different ages, enjoy her company. They weren’t expecting to prepare and win the Nationals like their on-ice guides. Rather, they got to experiment with curling, a JamCan Curling Bonspiel, for kids with some experience and for kids with no experience. And just have a lot of fun.

“What do you like about her?” I asked one of the girls about their friend, researching for my blog.
“Because she can talk. She can just talk about anything”.

Some friends we enjoy for the simple pleasure of their presence, some we share common interests, and some because they have thoughtful hearts. No matter what the reason, we invest one-on-one time and shared memories; we allow them to be themselves and prove our friendship when we stick around when their lives don’t look like pretty packages.
