Best Homeschool Books for Homeschool Moms: A Year of Transformation
Why a Book Club for Homeschool Moms?
Reading has been a powerful tool for learning and reflection, but for us homeschool moms, it’s often more than just about reading for education.
The Homeschool Mom Book Club is a space where we can read, reflect, and share insights from books that nurture not only our homeschool journey but also our personal growth, relationships, and purpose beyond our kids.
This year’s lineup is intentionally chosen to help you reimagine your homeschool life, foster deeper connections, and prioritize your well-being. The goal is not only to help you expand your knowledge, but to also inspire you to integrate what you’re reading into your everyday life.
2025 Book Selections (possibly the best homeschool books for moms?)
Here’s the lineup for the 2025 Homeschool Mom Book Club:
January – February: The Not So Big Life by Sarah Susanka
This book will help you reimagine what “enough” really looks like in your life. Learn to live with intention and simplify your approach to life, homeschooling, and everything in between. Perfect for kicking off the year by exploring how you can live a more balanced, fulfilling life.
February – March: The Joy of Slow by Leslie Martino
In a world that often values speed and efficiency over mindfulness and connection, this book invites you to slow down and savor the moments that matter most. A great read for reflecting on how slowing down can lead to a deeper, more meaningful homeschool experience.
March – April: Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach
This transformative book offers a deep dive into the power of self-compassion and acceptance. As homeschool moms, it’s easy to fall into the trap of perfectionism. Radical Acceptance will help you embrace who you are, exactly as you are, and build more compassion into your daily practice.
April – May: Modern Miss Mason by Leah Boden
This book is a fresh take on the Charlotte Mason philosophy for modern homeschoolers. If you’re seeking inspiration on how to apply a timeless approach to education in today’s world, this is a must-read.
May – June: Dumbing Us Down by John Taylor Gatto
This eye-opening read challenges conventional ideas about education and will leave you reflecting on the real purpose of homeschooling. A perfect read for anyone questioning the “traditional” school system and eager to rediscover the joys of self-directed learning.
June – July: The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman
Homeschool involves not just teaching but building strong, loving relationships with your children and your partner. This book will help you understand how you and your kids give and receive love, creating deeper emotional connections within your home environment.
July – August: The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown
As homeschool moms, we often put pressure on ourselves to be perfect. This book will help you embrace imperfection and live a more authentic, wholehearted life. It’s about letting go of the shame and guilt and learning to be okay with “good enough.”
August – September: More Than Enough by Kara S. Anderson
This book is a celebration of the fact that you, as a homeschool mom, already have everything you need to succeed. It’s a reminder that you are enough, and that your unique journey and purpose are valuable beyond measure.
How the Book Club Works
Each month, we’ll read one book from the list above, and we’ll come together to discuss our thoughts, reflections, and takeaways. Whether you’re a fast reader or you prefer to pace yourself, you’ll find the book club to be an encouraging space where everyone’s voice is welcome.
But if you’re not a quick reader, or you know you couldn’t possibly read a book a month, I get you girlfriend! (I would have found this incredibly challenging in the thick of my busy homeschool years). If you just can’t read that month, you’re welcome to join our conversation and gain from the concepts discussed.
All are welcome!
You’ll also get the chance to connect with other homeschool moms who are on a similar journey. Share your struggles, successes, and insights, and get support from a community of women who truly understand the unique challenges of homeschooling.
Here’s what you can expect as part of the Book Club:
- Monthly group discussions to share insights and reflections
- Exclusive access to a private online community to discuss the books, ask questions, and encourage one another
- Actionable takeaways that you can apply immediately in your homeschooling journey and personal life
- Personal growth through reading books that address different aspects of your life: from homeschooling to personal well-being
